19 more days and counting down...

We have not yet left, but I wanted to figure out how this blog works, so here's my first post. I also think a few close family members are anxious to know that they'll be able to stay in touch so - here you go - you can start reading and connecting before we even leave.

Our first stop is Paris for one week. Thank you to those who recommended what to see there. Our top 5 sites are: Versaille, Louvre, Sacre-Coeur, Catacombs, Rodin Gallery, Musee D'Orsay... oops... top 6. Oh, and a boat tour on the Seine at night to view the illuminated bridges. We'll probably never make it out of the first cafe we stumble into... and that would not be such a bad thing!

Hi Kristine. Looks like you are off to a great start! One more thing about Paris. They have boat taxis that will pick you up and drop you off at different places along the Seine. I don't remember exactly how it works, but I think you can buy an all day pass and just hop on one when you are ready. They give you the places and times that the boats will come around. Kind of like floating buses. They can be fun, if you have time for them. I can't wait to hear about all you see and do!!!

Hi Kris and Marcus, I know you're accustomed to Starbucks aka toxic coffee but even so you probably won't leave the first cafe if you drink the same size espresso which is all they serve in France.
PS. you can get free croisants if you go to Gare Central looking like a street person. True!

This is the oldest restaurant in Paris, wonderful ambiance and food.

Thanks Charlie for the restaurant recommendation. Looks very nice. I have a really hard time with the french word "gastronomique" - whenever I hear that word it reminds me of the horrible bout of gastro-intestinal flu I had when I was 23!

This is the place that we spent most of our time at...I know you will be doing less eating, drinking and smoking then we did...but it was a great people watching atmosphere that's worth a meal.
